Live-action remakes of my childhood really aren't my thing, but if Disney is making money off of them, then there's no arguing with success. Snow White is apparently now in line to get a live-action feature film according to The Hollywood Reporter. Erin Cressida Wilson, the writer of the adaptation of The Girl on the Train, is now in negotiations to do the script for the new Snow White.
The new movie will supposedly "expand upon the story and music" from the original 1937 classic with songs from Benj Pasek and Justin Paul. Translation: it's not going to be 100% faithful to its source material. This is not the first attempt at an alternate take on Snow White, as it wasn't too long ago that Twilight's Kristen Stewart starred in Snow White and the Huntsman (2012 to be exact).
Over the last couple of years, Maleficent, Cinderella, and The Jungle Book have proven to be big financial successes for the studio grossing $758,539,785, $543,514,353, and $966,448,359 respectively. So yeah, that's a lot of cheese, and yes, all of them were profitable in comparison to their production budgets.
