So this is how Sonic 4: Episode 2 is going to look

Back in December, Sega revealed a tiny bit of info regarding the upcoming sequel to Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1. The original game was praised by few and criticized by many for its physics and level design. According to Sega, Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 2 will feature revamped physics and graphics.

The company has released some images that showcase the upcoming platformer's new look, and I have to say I'm pretty impressed. If you dig things that look nice, chances are you'll be impressed, too.

Sonic 4: Episode 2 appears to have a much richer art style than its predecessor. While I personally loved how the last game looked, the sequel features vibrant backgrounds that really pop and impressive 3D character models. I really like the 2.5D look, and it seems that Sonic 4: Episode 2 will really be a visual treat.

You can check out the images below. There's some pretty cool stuff aside from actual main level designs. For example, there are some screens that show Tails carrying Sonic around. Additionally, the bonus stages appear to be based on those from Sonic the Hedgehog 2, which is obviously a huge influence for Sonic 4: Episode 2.
