So where’s that Xbox One backwards compatibility news we were promised?

Xbox team not quite ready to talk more about backwards compatibility

Last week, Phil Spencer, head of Xbox, told fans they could expect news regarding Xbox One's backwards compatibility. The news was delayed, with Spencer telling fans it would "likely come" this week instead. Well, it's Friday, this week is coming to a close, and still no news. What's the deal?

Turns out, the team isn't quite ready to talk about it — whatever it happens to be. Responding to fans on Twitter, Spencer wrote:

Now it's possible, with this weekend being PAX Prime that Microsoft could make a surprise announcement, but it seems unlikely. Spencer did warn fans to temper their expectations with what the announcement would be. When asked if the news would be "pretty substantial," Spencer responded:

Microsoft first announced Xbox One's backwards compatibility — a feature that would allow gamers to play certain Xbox 360 games on their Xbox One — back in June at E3, but it is currently only available to Preview Members. At Gamescom earlier this month, Microsoft announced the feature would be fully rolled out to all Xbox One owners this November, so it's easy to understand why everyone is anxious to hear more. In the meantime, you can vote on which Xbox 360 games you'd like to see made available on Xbox One using Microsoft's online voting poll.
