SOE bringing PlanetSide 2 and DC Universe Online to the PS4

DC Universe Online and PlanetSide 2, two popular free-to-play games from Sony Online Entertainment, will both be available as PlayStation 4 titles when the system launches later this year. This is great news for current PS3 gamers who were entertaining the thought of getting a PS4, but turned away when Sony announced the new system won't be backwards compatible or allow you to download current PSN titles.

DC Universe and PlanetSide 2 have both found tremendous success as free-to-play games on the PS3, and it appears Sony will continue to explore the same 'Free to Play. Your Way.' philosophy on its new system.

"DCUO was the first MMO available for PlayStation 3, and its thriving community is proof that we can create an exciting and robust console experience for players," said Laura Naviaux, Senior VP of Global Sales and Marketing at Sony Online Entertainment. "Players have been asking for PlanetSide 2 to be playable on consoles, and PS4 is the ideal platform to showcase the game's beauty, depth and frenetic open world combat."

That's about as specific as the announcement went. We don't have any solid release dates as the PS4 does not yet have its own launch date. Hopefully that will change next week during Sony's E3 press briefing.
