SOE Live 2014: Dark Elves unveiled as new race in EverQuest Next

EverQuest Next is well on its way  thanks to the development of Landmark, which will help shape the various systems that Next will utilize. However, we did get a glimpse of some all new content coming to Next, one of which is a new race, but one that EverQuest players will be very familiar with.

“This year we wanted to debut a new race for you, and the most obvious one was of course the number one most popular race in EverQuest and EverQuest 2, which is the Dark Elves.”

The devs opened up an event that called for players to submit their created Dark Elf citadels. And though you can't see them here, I couldn't believe the amount of detail that was put into them. That same detail could also be seen on the Dark Elf armor. Since they're such a dark and majestic race, the dev team crafted the armor to resemble these traits, with highly detailed accents, and sharp edges that line the sides of the armor, and finished off with a torn cape flowing from their backs.

While we don't have a solid date of when players will be able to get their hands on EverQuest Next, the progress and new additions we've seen today are quite promising.
