Sold out Gold Mario Amiibo now going for crazy prices on eBay

Damn scalpers ruin everything

After being available for roughly 15-minutes at Walmart as a pre-order, the Gold Mario Amiibo has officially sold out online – the very day that Nintendo announced it. Don't worry, if you want to pre-order one you can always head over to eBay and pay $199.

That's right folks, the $12.96 Walmart exclusive Amiibo has taken the Majora's Mask New Nintendo 3DS XL route and not only sold out in minutes, but is now being sold at ridiculous prices from scalpers on the web.

While one user is offering the Gold Amiibo for $199 (with a confirmed pre-order), another user has listed their Gold Mario at $399. If you do the math you know which price is better. There are cheaper options, like a Mario Amiibo that someone handpainted for $79.95 (it's not even doing the right pose, he should charge more).

My main concern here is, what is stopping people from taking the Super Smash Bros. Mario Amiibo and painting it gold? It has the same pose as the Gold Mario Amiibo!

The Gold Mario Amiibo was only going to be available at 3,000 Walmart stores in the United States, and the Walmart website only says that it's 'Out of stock online.' This means that there's still a chance (albeit a small one) you could find yourself a Gold Mario in-store on March 10. While you're looking you might as well search for a goose that lays golden eggs.

Hey, if you find the goose before the Gold Mario Amiibo you could carve a Mario Amiibo out of the eggs. If the goose-hunt doesn't work out, you can try your luck at finding the Silver Amiibo.
