Some college teams could appear in NBA 2K16

With all the hullabaloo and controversy surrounding likeness in video games and paying college athletes, college sports video games have sadly become a thing of the past. However, new leaks suggest that college basketball could be making a return, albeit in a very mild way in NBA 2K16.

As some of you may be well aware, NBA 2K16's new MyCareer story mode is all about rising through the ranks. From high school to college to NBA draft, players will have to big decisions to make early on in their career. And one of those decisions could actually involve playing for a college team in the game.

According to the leaks, 2K Sports currently has the license for 11 schools for use in video games through the Collegiate Licensing Company. This includes Arizona, Arizona State, Georgetown, Kansas, Louisville, Michigan, Texas, UCLA, UConn, Villanova, and Wisconsin. While this probably won't be a full-blown college basketball experience — no real players or representations, no authentic arenas, and no involvement by the NCAA (which means no "March Madness") — the idea is that you'll probably play for one of these officially licensed schools at some part of a very limited college career.

While it's not a fully-fledged college basketball game, the ability to play for at least a few licensed college teams, for even a portion of the game, is likely a welcomed feature for many basketball fans. Sure, it may not be the college of your dreams, but it's better than nothing, right?

Keep in mind, none of this has been officially announced by 2K, so treat it as nothing more than rumor and speculation.
