Some Vita Games Will Require Memory Card

The PlayStation Vita will feature game cartridges that can save your game data as well as patches directly. Not every game, however, will allow such functionality. According to Destructoid, some Vita games will require you to save onto a memory card.

Though this was previously speculated and mentioned by Sony, it has now been officially confirmed. The additional memory cards are expected to cost a pretty penny, so I can already see a number of gamers getting upset about that. And given the handheld's fairly high price point, I won't argue that investing in a Vita will be pretty costly.

Sony Japan has already revealed a few of the games that will require memory cards, with a couple of these being launch titles. So far, Uncharted, Hot Shots Golf, and Ridge Racer will all require a memory card for save data. Here's hoping Touch My Katamari isn't one of these titles. And in case you're wondering, I really only said that because I wanted to say the game's title.

A memory card is something you're going to need if you plan on getting a Vita, so this news shouldn't come as too much of a shocker. I suppose the size of the save file will have a big impact on whether or not you need to save to a memory card. We're bound to get more details straight from Sony as the Vita nears its launch date.
