Someone called emergency services for PSN and Xbox Live being down

The holidays normally provide us with plenty of down time to work on our backlog of games, but this year a group of hackers called Lizard Squad had other plans for gamers. Their plans were to bring down PlayStation Network and Xbox Live for the holidays and (in case you somehow missed it) they were successful.

Gamers responded to the situation differently — some angrily Facebooked or Tweeted about it, while others simply utilized their could-be gaming time elsewhere. Then there were the individuals that simple couldn't handle it.

While PSN and Xbox Live were down, one individual thought to place a call to 911 and ask the dispatcher if they knew what was going on… No, the dispatcher didn't say "Did you try turning it on and off again." Instead the dispatcher asked others in the office about the issue and replied, "Yeah, I guess some people have been reporting it."

The Palm Beach State Sheriff's Office used that call to make a point on Twitter:

So, folks, moral of the story is: Don't call emergency services for PSN and Xbox Live being down.
