The Pokemon Sun and Moon demo is no stranger to hacks. After a data mine revealed the entire Pokedex, another hacker has been able to go in and completely revamp the game's visuals. TinyVi and Shiny Quagsire created the "no-line" patch you see above with the footage provided by the YouTuber KazoWAR.
The patch literally does what it describes, removing the lines from every character and Pokemon, resulting in a more cel-shaded look. The video above is running on an emulator, so the visuals do look better than they would normally do.
With the official reveal of the Nintendo Switch this morning, I can't help but think of the possibilities going forward for Pokemon. Sure there has been console Pokemon games before (meh) but given the hybrid nature of the Switch and its added graphical capabilities, a main entry Pokemon game with this level of visual fidelity, and potential online capabilities (c'mon Pokemon MMO) would make for an exciting game for fans of the series.
