Apparently everything can be built in Minecraft and some crazy genius is somehow creating a fully functioning Pokémon Red game.
Redditor MrSquishyYT, also known as Matt, has taken it upon himself to recreate the classic Pokémon Red game, it's no small project. Matt has already made a lot of the areas from Pokémon Red and wild Pokémon encounters has been built in but there is still a long way to go.
In a interview with htxt.africa Matt talked about the state of the "game" and while he has done a lot there is still much to add, such as trainer battles, all the various puzzle rooms, item shops, the casino, and much more.
"The game doesn’t know that anyone beyond the player currently exists. Adding NPCs will require a whole slew of new systems, such as stores, trainer battles, scripted events, and the ability to interact with objects in the world. [Then there’s the] custom functionality for interior regions, such as the arrow puzzles in Team Rocket’s hideout, the door puzzles on Cinnabar island, and the slot machines at the Game Corner. Items don’t currently do anything, so I’m currently working on redesigning the item menu and adding item functionality both in and of battles."
Matt promise that the map containing the Minecraft version of Pokémon Red will be available for download when it all is finished, but it may take a while.
Some other cool stuff created in Minecraft is Anor Londo from Dark Souls, The Shire from Lord of the Rings, and a program that can interpret the programming language BASIC. Who knows what's next.
