In an effort to improve the multiplayer experience of Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, SEGA has made the game free to download on iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Google Play.
You are able to race as 10 different characters at launch, each with their own unique transformable vehicle. On April 29, SEGA will update the game with more characters, including Wreck-It Ralph and Metal Sonic. Additionally, you can "cruise the beachfront resort of OutRun Bay, barrel roll past asteroids in Sonic Colors' Galactic Parade, and pit their skills against racers around the world with the new World Tour Chapter and Boss Cup Grand Prix." There's even the ability to record races, edit and share them on social networks, powered by Everyplay.
Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed will now survive with a typical free-to-play business model, meaning you can expect to unlock additional content through in-game purchases. If you've previously paid for the game, you are already given access to the VIP Pass at no additional cost — unlocking four characters, Gran Prix mode and multiplayer.
