Sonic’s comic is still running, and looking better than ever

Classic Sonic is Greatest Sonic

Sonic's Archie Comics series made its debut in 1992, and has continued strong ever since, even spawning multiple spin-offs and a pair of cross-overs with Mega Man. The Sonic the Hedgehog comics not only hold the Guiness World Record for longest running comic series based on a video game, but in September 2015 it became the longest franchise based comic book series ever.

Say what you want about the Blue Blur's games, but his comics have been a huge success story. Some of those story lines are pretty damn memorable too. I haven't touched a comic in decades, but I still remember when Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles all used the power of chaos emeralds to fight Mammoth Mogul. That was the coolest shit in the world as a child.

Archie Comics' upcoming one-shot, Sonic: Mega Drive, will be part of Sonic's 25th Anniversary celebration, and bring Sonic back to his 16-bit roots. Just check out the cover art and solicitation courtesy of Comic Book Resources:
