Former Sonic Team leader and creator of Sonic the Hedgehog and Nights has announced he intends to never return to Sega, or the mammoth mascot he helped make a staple of any gamer-friendly household.
“I think I have at least five or ten years left to create new things in the industry,” Naka told CVG. “Given the choice I’d spend that remaining time doing something good at Prope, influencing the next generation, rather than going back to Sega. So no, I have no intention to go back to Sega, whether it’s for Sonic or another project. I spent 15 years making Sonic and he’s 15 years old, I think it’s time for the cute little son to leave his parents and do his own thing.”
Kick him while he’s down, Naka-san. Kick him while he’s down…
