Sony again comments on PlayStation cross-platform play

I don't think the guy understood the question.

well

Microsoft made a public invitation for other consoles to join them in cross-platform play back in March. Since then, Sony made two comments on the invitation, both of which were non-answers. Now, another Sony executive has commented on cross-platform play, but it appears as though he didn't quite get the question.

Instead of talking about cross-platform play between the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, the Sony executive spoke on cross-platform play between PlayStation consoles.

“There's been a lot of noise about this recently. There were certain statements made at E3. But our position has always been that we're receptive to this,” said Sony’s Global Sales and Marketing head, Jim Ryan in an interview with IGN ME.

“It's something we've been doing for many years now. I think we started with cross-platform initiatives on PS2 in fact, in the early network days of that. There are a number of instances on PS3: when you upgraded from the PS3 to the PS4 generation on GTA V you could take your save cross-platform, we've also seen it with Final Fantasy. We're completely open to this. It's really down to the developer and publisher of a certain game to come and talk to us and we're ready to have that conversation.”

Ryan managed to stay true to the Sony method of not commenting on cross-platform play, while commenting on it at the same time. It's interesting that Ryan brought up developers and cross-play, seeing as the Rocket League developers have asked Sony about it and say that they could make cross-play between the Xbox One and PS4 happen in "hours" if Sony actually said yes. In addition to that, the Witcher developers have also found a way to make cross-platform play happen and are waiting on Sony too.

Yeah...
