Sony announces The Last of Us: One Night Live; already sold out

Well that didn't take long. Sony announced today The Last of Us: One Night Live, a special one-night-only theatrical performance of Naughty Dog's critically-acclaimed video game, and it's already sold out. Not much of a surprise given the extreme popularity of the game coupled with the fact that tickets to the event were free.

One Night Live looks to "highlight the artistry behind The Last of Us," according to producer Geoff Keighley, offering a live reading of select scenes from the game by the principal actors, as directed by Neil Druckmann. Troy Baker, Ashley Johnson, Merle Dandridge, Hanna Hayes, and Annie Wersching are all scheduled to appear, along with Academy Award winning composer Gustavo Santaolalla who will perform selections from his score.

"How this all fits together will remain a bit of a mystery until it happens, but trust me when I say it will be a very special evening," teased Keighley.

The one-time-only performance is being staged at the Broad Stage in Santa Monica on Monday, July 28 at 7:00pm PT. Again, tickets are already sold out, but there is a waiting list. If you can't attend the event, select portions of the show will be streamed live around the world on Twitch, YouTube and PlayStation Network's Live Event viewer.

If you plan on playing The Last of Us for the first time when it releases for PS4 on July 29, then I'd suggest skipping the event as it'll include some story spoilers.
