Sony brings movies, concerts, sports, and more to PS3 and Vita through new EPIX network

Sony has officially announced EPIX, a premium entertainment network featuring a library of more than 3,000 new releases and classic feature films, concerts, comedy specials, sports, and other original programming, will be coming to the PlayStation 3 and PS Vita later this year.

The EPIX app for PS3 will launch this quarter, with the app for the PS Vita coming in spring 2013. The network will be available for PS3 and Vita owners across the U.S.. Although the app will be free to download on PSN, you'll need to be an EPIX subscriber to have access to its vast library of content which includes plenty of new releases likeĀ The Hunger Games, Thor, and much more.

EPIX is currently available through cable, satellite, and telco TV providers, online, and via other devices. Pricing for the package is available from different television providers at different prices so you'll have to call your provider to find out more. Sony did say more information will be released as we get closer to launch though.
