Sony: Call of Duty: Black Ops 3’s ‘transformative’ gameplay encouraged PlayStation exclusivity deal

At E3 this year, Activision and Sony announced a new partnership that'll ultimately see the release of downloadable content for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 release first on PlayStation platforms before arriving on all others.

While we heard from Activision's CEO, Eric Hirshberg, regarding the new partnership, a Gamestop interview with Adam Boyes, Sony's VP of Publisher & Developer Relations, shed more light on the exclusitiy deal.

"Well, I think the first thing was we've had a great relationship with Activision around Destiny," Boyes said. "And I'm a huge fan of that."

"We fell in love instantly," Boyes said of Black Ops 3, before describing the upcoming shooter as "transformative" thanks to its new features.

"As soon as I started playing it, I said, 'This feels incredible! You can wallride!' It's just so smooth; it's almost like poetic. And so obviously, we just continued talking with our partners at Activision and worked something out. And now we've got I think a great benefit to all the gamers."

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 is due out in November for PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC. The deal between Sony and Activision will have DLC arrive on Sony's PlayStation platforms 30 days before all others. Additionally, the upcoming beta will also be playable on Playstation first.
