Sony cancels their PSN superhero show, Powers

Amidst the superhero show onslaught, PSN could not carve out a niche

When something becomes a fad, eventually everyone wants a piece of the pie. That's exactly what's going on right now with the superhero renaissance that's going on across both the movie and TV industry. While there are perfectly good reasons for superheroes being in vogue right now, the reality is that just because something has superheroes in it, doesn't mean that it's going to take off (or even be any good by default).

That was the question that was facing Sony apparently and they have decided to can their exclusive superhero show, Powers. This is according to a series of tweets by the series' co-creator, Brian Michael Bendis.

Granted, Bendis left open the possibility that the series could return by including the phrase "at least for now", so it's possible that someone else could still pick it up.  It's also worth noting that the Powers comic book will at least continue with a new storyline called "Diamond Days."

Powers was originally revealed at Sony's E3 2014 Press Conference and was free to watch in its entirety for PS Plus users.
