The PlayStation Vita, the red headed stepchild in the PlayStation family, turned three recently, and to celebrate Sony is hosting a sale. Following tomorrow's PlayStation Store update, a number of Vita games will be discounted, with bigger savings offered to PS Plus members. Additionally, a number of items will also be available for free.

The PlayStation Vita has had a bit of a rough go of it in its first three years. Lackluster sales have led many to wonder what the future holds for Sony's struggling handheld initiative. While the PlayStation brand, as a whole, is one of the few bright spots for Sony, the Vita has failed to catch on. In the period spanning October 1 through December 31, the PlayStation Vita and PlayStation TV combined to ship just 1.4 million units.
So happy birthday, Vita. Here's to hoping you last another three years.
