Sony chief reacts to “Nintendo Playstation” discovery

The President of Sony's Worldwide Studios, Shuhei Yoshida, has today responded to a recent Reddior who claims to have found a "Nintendo Playstation" prototype.

It would seem that the discovery of this never-released console could well prove a previous partnership between both Sony and Nintendo, eventually resulting in the birth of Sony's flagship console, Playstation.

During a recent interview with Engadget UK, Yoshida gave his thoughts on the prototype, talked about playing on the console and more.

He said: "When I joined Ken Kutaragi's team (in 1993), there was a system called 'Play Station' that had both Super Nintendo cartridge support and some disc game support. Actually, I played some games (on it) as well."

Therefore, Mr Yoshida did not actually confirm the console's existence or development, but he did offer a unique insight on his own experience with a seemingly similiar device.

Further contributing to the ambiguity surrounding the "Nintendo Playstation" he added: "Somehow, I think it's more fun to keep it kind of a mystery."
