Remember last month's auction for the first edition — serial number 00001 — of Sony's extremely limited 20th Anniversary PlayStation 4? It ended up selling for $127,000, all of which was to be donated to Save the Children Japan.
Unfortunately, the winning bidder was unable to follow through, so good guy Sony has decided to donate the amount to charity anyway, on top of the 15 million yen the company had already promised. Now instead of heading to someone's living room, the special PS4 will go on display at the Sony Showroom in Ginza, Tokyo.
At the time of the auction, Sony said, "We appreciate all who participated in the auction and are surprised at the highest bid price, which was higher than our expectations."
Sucks that such an event was ruined by a few pranksters, but a classy move on Sony's part nonetheless.
