Sony is finished with selling new system shipments of the PlayStation 2 after 12 long years, according to Famitsu.
The console launched in Japan on March 4, 2000. After this final batch of PS2s, customers will have to hunt for used hardware to acquire the system. New games for the console — like the recently announced expansion, Final Fantasy XI: Seekers of Adoulin, coming in March — will still get made.
Over 150 million PS2s have sold worldwide, and Sony will continue to sell them in regions outside Japan, at least for now. The system only launched in Brazil in 2009.
