Despite rumors and speculation stemming from comments made by Sony Computer Entertainment Europe president and CEO Jim Ryan, Sony insists they are committed to launching Driveclub PlayStation Plus Edition.
The future of the free, slightly watered down version of Evolution Studios' racing game came into question yesterday when Ryan told Metro that a PS Plus version of Driveclub was "still being looked at." When pressed for further comment, he replied, "I cant' say anything at this stage," sending the world of video games into a tizzy.
Looking to calm the public frenzy, a Sony spokesperson assured Eurogamer, "We are continually working on improving the server capacity to enable us to launch the PS Plus Edition as quickly as possible."
"Although we do not have an update regarding the timing for the launch."
Driveclub PS Plus Edition was supposed to launch alongside the full game's release in October 2014. However, server problems plaguing Driveclub's online gameplay experience caused a delay in the release of the PS Plus Edition. Right now, Driveclub PlayStation Plus Edition is labeled as "officially postponed until further notice."
