Good news gamers, Sony is aware of a corrupted save file problem on the PlayStation 4 resulting in error code CE-34878. Although this has apparently been an issue since December, the problem only begun to gain the attention of media and Sony this week thanks, in part, to a 34-page thread on the PlayStation forums.
Users have reported corrupted save files across several games in the PS4 library, including NBA 2K14, Battlefield 4, Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag, and Call of Duty: Ghosts. Sony says the code simply signifies that an "Application has crashed."
In a statement to CVG, Sony offered a generic "We are aware of the cases and we appreciate your patience while we investigate." Vagueness is nothing new in the industry, especially when these sort of issues arise, but it sounds as if the problem may be hard to track down since it is a rather generic error code.
Should you encounter the error, you should follow these Sony recommended steps.
