Sony launches official PSN service status page

With all the downtime experienced on PlayStation Network, it's nice to see Sony finally launch a portal that provides real-time updates on the status of the various PSN services.

Previously, PlayStation owners had to use the PlayStation Knowledge Center for info, which was not only slow to update, but also usually just told people to check PlayStation on Twitter for the latest updates on server outages. It was vague and frustrating, to say the least.

I assume with this new page, we'll have all the information presented quickly and clearly — hopefully in real-time (or close to it). For what it's worth, the new page already looks much sleeker with all of the services listed with boxes representing their status. It's now much easier to see when services like "Gaming and Social","PlayStation Now", "PlayStation Store", and "Account Management" are up or down.

You can check out the new PlayStation Service Status page here. I'm proud to report that all services are "up and running." Let's hope it stays that way!
