Sony looking into PSN online gameplay issues with PS4

Apparently, a number of users are experiencing issues with PlayStation Network on the PS4. Although Sony is scheduled to perform maintenance on the network today, the service still should function for anyone who has recently signed into their PSN account.

According to Killzone: Shadow Fall developers, this is actually an unexpected glitch that is preventing a growing number of PS4 players from playing their games online. PSN is reportedly telling users that they need PlayStation Plus to play online, even though they already have a subscription. PlayStation Europe community manager Chris Owen confirmed "there is no problem with your subscription" and that the issue is currently being investigating. Killzone: Shadow Fall, Call of Duty: Ghosts, and Battlefield 4 are just a few titles reportedly locking users out of online multiplayer.

Unfortunately, no clear solution or explanation has been given, but Sony Europe has said that their engineers are "looking into" the problem.

And here's the official update from Killzone Twitter:

Sony's PSN support center still shows the service's status as "online," but there's clearly an issue for many. Meanwhile, PSN maintenance is set to take place from 9:00am to 2:00pm PT here in the U.S.
