Sony resurrecting ‘Spider-Man’ spinoff ‘Venom’ for film

One of the most iconic villains in all of superhero lore, Venom, seems to be making a return to the movie scene.
According to Hollywood Reporter, Sony has requested Dante Harper( Sleepless Nights & Edge of Tomorrow) to write a script for the apparent new Venom film, which will be completely separate from the once again rebooted Spider-Man film starring Tom Holland.
Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach, stewards of the Spider-Man properties, are also reported to join Harper on the film by producing and overseeing the entire project.
For the longest time, Venom was a villain but then morphed into an anti-hero and even (almost) good guy. In his current incarnation, Venom is paired with Flash Thompson, a Peter Parker bully-turned-close friend and now a government agent.
Sony's spin-off Venom series will also be not just a solo film, but rather a franchise of the infamous villain. The last time we saw the Venom in a film was back in Spider-Man 3 and was played by Topher Grace with his counterpart hero, Toby Mcguire as Spider-Man.
We currently don’t have any details on the studio's plan of casting a release window. Stick with GameZone for further updates.
