Sony kicked off their Nintendo Direct-like State of Play event by showcasing a bunch of VR games. The very first one they showed off was a huge surprise but a welcome one, Iron Man VR!
The trailer showcased Tony Stark being thrown out of his private jet and equipping his trusty armor and then turned into first-person flying and combat. The trailer didn’t showcase actual gameplay footage but is definitely looking like a solid proof of concept.
Developer Camouflaj looks to provide a thrilling and immersive Iron Man experience but they also insisted that they’re creating a meaty story for the man behind the armor.
“In Marvel’s Iron Man VR the player, who plays as the genius inventor Tony Stark, confronts ghosts from his past—powerful forces who seek to ruin him and everything he stands for,” said Ryan Payton, director at Camouflaj. “By fully embracing the magic of PlayStation VR, players will come face-to-face with iconic allies and Super Villains as they jet around the globe on a heroic mission to save not only Stark Industries, but the world itself. We cannot wait to share more about how we are telling an original Iron Man story in a way that only virtual reality allows.”
Iron Man VR is slated for release later this year.
Sony also announced that the infamous space game No Man’s Sky is getting full VR integration. That means it won’t be exclusive to just a mode, the full game has PlayStation VR capabilities! The update will come free with the upcoming Beyond update this summer.
