Sony’s live-action series ‘Powers’ gets its first director

Twilight Saga: Eclipse director David Slade has signed on to direct the first two episodes of Powers, Sony announced today. His directing resume also includes recent episodes of NBC's Hannibal and AMC's Breaking Bad, plus films like 30 Days of Night and Hard Candy.

Announced back at E3 in June, Powers is an original live-action series based on the edgy dramatic graphic novel series that follows the lives of two homicide detectives, Christian Walker and Deena Pilgrim, who are assigned to investigate cases involving people with superhuman abilities, referred to as Powers. The first two episodes of the show are written by executive producer Charlie Huston, and adapted from the best-selling graphic novel series by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oemig.

Powers is set to premiere exclusively on PSN in the United States this December. Every PSN user in the U.S. will receive the first episode for free, while PS Plus members will be able to vie the entire Powers series for free.
