Disney isn't the only company shuffling dates for its upcoming movies. But while we're used to delays in the gaming and film industry, Sony announced today that its upcoming Spider-Man movie will be releasing three week earlier than expected.
Sony's Spider-Man reboot will now release on July 7, 2017 instead of July 28, 2017. However, Tom Holland will make his big screen debut as the web-slinging hero in Captain America: Civil War (May 6, 2016) after Sony and Marvel came to an agreement to feature the super hero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The scheduling move was made to make room for Sony's Jumanji remake, which — you guessed it — has been delayed. Jumanji originally had a Christmas 2016 release window, but due to scheduling conflicts has been pushed back. It will now take Spider-Man's original release date on July 28, 2017.
Not much is known about the Jumanji reboot, except that it's being helmed by Jake Kasdan (Bad Teach, Sex Tape). The 1995 original starred the late Robin Williams, Bonnie Hunt, and Kirsten Dunst. It's unclear if the latter two will reprise their roles, or if this will be a complete reboot starring a completely different cast of characters who come across the magical board game.
