Sony to officially support PS4 Remote Play for PC and Mac

Official PS4 remote play application for PC and Mac in the works

Days after developer "Twisted" revealed an unofficial workaround to get PlayStation 4 Remote Play to work on PC, Sony has acknowledged an official application is already in the works.

Taking to Twitter, Shuhei Yoshida, President of Sony Worldwide Studios, stated that Sony is "indeed working on an official application for PC/Mac."

Currently Remote Play only allows PlayStation 4 games to be streamed to a PlayStation Vita handheld across a home network. The ability to stream PS4 games to your PC or Mac would essentially mimic Microsoft's vision of a unified "gaming experience," in which Xbox One owners can stream their games to PC with Windows 10. Despite Sony having sold more PlayStation 4s than Microsoft Xbox Ones, it seems at this point in the game, Sony is playing catch up with Microsoft's features.

Of course, both platform holders are really just copying Nintendos original second-screen vision with the Wii U, which was actually the first system to allow games to be played off-screen and on the Wii U's Gamepad.
