Sony unveils new PlayStation Now-ready Bravia 4K TVs

Yesterday, Sony Electronics unveiled its new line of Bravia 4K Ultra HD television sets, each with the capability to play PlayStation 3 games via the company's soon-to-launch PlayStation Now streaming service.

Sony's three new series and total of nine models of the 4K TVs will come out in June, but are currently available for pre-sale ranging in price from $2,100 to a whopping $25,000. If you have a DualShock 3 controller, you'll also be able to play PS3 games via PlayStation Now.

Revealed back in January, PlayStation Now is a paid service that allows gamers to stream PS3 (and eventually PS2 and PS1) games to numerous Sony devices, one of them being the Bravia televisions. PlayStation Now is currently in beta testing with a full service rollout planned for this summer. Exact pricing details for PlayStation Now have not been revealed, but it's believed to have a subscription similar to Netflix with an alternative option to rent games on an individual basis.

"We continue to be the only company that offers a complete line-up of consumer 4K products, including TVs, front projectors, cameras and camcorders, while also leading the industry in providing 4K content. Sony's new 4K Ultra HD TVs, 4K media player and new 4K content offerings continue to strengthen our growing ecosystem," said Mike Fasulo, president at Sony Electronics. "We strongly believe 4K is the future for entertainment and we remain committed to leading the 4K movement, from lens to living room, in a way that only a company like Sony can."
