Sony veterans Kickstarting new tactical RPG shooter, Kinetik

Veterans from the AAA development sphere are setting out on their own to work on a "near-future cover-based tactical RPG shooter" called Kinetik. The game is being developed by a two-person team comprised of Mat Broome and Kevin McPherson in Unreal Engine 4.

Along with the usual slew of tactical weapons, players will also have access to drones inspired by the real-world military. Drones will be fully moddable and have both offensive and defensive abilities. Battles can be fought against either AI or in large 16 vs 16 multiplayer matches. Players will not only become stronger as they rank up but will also be able to craft and equip more powerful armor and items while victories will provide new skills and customizations.

Kinetik is the first game the new Hero Machine studios and as is the trend these days with new indie studios they've taken to Kickstarter to raise money for their project. They hope to enter Steam's Early access program in 2017 but in addition to the Steam launch, they are planning an Xbox One and PS4 release.
