The folks over at Sony are hoping to make the next few months fairly notable for gamers. After having just revealed the newest PSP bundle to encourage more gamers purchase their current handheld machine, Sony is now announcing some NGP news. Eager gamers who desperately want to buy digital content on the PlayStation Store will be happy to know that Sony is working on it.
Since the NGP was officially announced, we’ve all been under the impression that it would launch by the end of the year. After all, that’s what Sony said they would be doing. It looks like that original plan is still in motion, as Sony has confirmed that the NGP is slated to hit stores by the year’s end. “Regarding NGP, we’re progressing with preparations towards a release at the end of the year,” said the company during an earnings briefing.
There is still no word on specifics, but at least we can all look forward to an impressive new handheld before 2012. I really hope the NGP will provide proper competition for the 3DS by releasing a stellar library of games. This push could be what the people at Nintendo need to finally start turning out some quality content for their newest dual screen handheld.
In addition to their NGP confirmation, Sony also stated that they were making strides to have the PlayStation Network back up 100 percent by the end of the month. This includes the PlayStation Store and Qriocity services. It’s good to see Sony keeping gamers in the loop regarding their online services and their upcoming products.
