Sophie Turner says Game of Thrones Season 6 is Sansa Stark’s ‘best yet’

Sansa Stark has had a pretty rough go of it through the five seasons of Game of Thrones. After witnessing her father's execution and remaining a prisoner at King's Landing, Sansa's suffering reached an all-time low last season when she returned home to Winterfell to marry the psychotic Ramsay Bolton, who subsequently raped her on their wedding night.

Well, don't worry, Stark fans; Sansa will finally get her moment in the upcoming Season 6. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, actress Sophie Turner teased this season as the character's best one yet.

Sansa's fate was left a bit up in the air during the Season 5 finale, but it appears the character is primed for a big turnaround in Season 6.

"I mean this season is a really, really big one for Sansa,” Turner told EW. “It’s probably her best season yet. It’s her really coming into her own. She, this season, really commands the respect that she deserves and she grabs hold of it and she runs with it and it’s really good.”

Having presumably escaped with Theon Greyjoy (Reek), Sansa's big moment is finally here. Turner continued that fans are "finally getting that storyline that you've been craving for the past five seasons."

“It was amazing because the past five seasons, it feels like it’s been building up and up to that,” she said. “You can only suffer so much before she finally gets her, the respect that she deserves.”

And how will she command that respect, exactly? Well, you'll have to tune in to see, but you can probably expect a few major shockers.

“I mean this season there’s like so many shocks, it’s massive,” Turner teased. “It’s the biggest season yet. And just like in terms of character development, so many people’s storylines, I’m so excited for. I’m so excited to see Alfie’s one this season. It’s going to be good.”

While Sansa's story is sure to be intriguing, there's really only one character fans are dying to know the fate of.

Game of Thrones Season 6 will premiere on April 24th.
