Back in E3 2016, Sony showcased a Final Fantasy XV VR Experience that allowed players to play as Prompto in VR. The trailer showed off shooting mechanics and warping around the map, but it looks like the 'Experience' will simply stay and experience.
The Lead Designer of Final Fantasy XV, Wan Hazmer, confirmed [via Sirius Gaming] that the Prompto VR shooter wouldn't be happening.
“The Prompto Shooting game was actually a showcase back then. It was just to showcase the power of the VR – but we have Monster of the Deep! Can you imagine having a Prompto DLC and also having a Prompto VR. Right? We want to offer something very different for every single entry of Final Fantasy XV.”
Now, there's still hope for the Final Fantasy fishing simulator to hit VR, aka Monster of the Deep: Final Fantasy XV, which was shown off during the Sony's E3 keynote. It's said the game will release as a standalone title, which means there's no need to have purchased Final Fantasy XV to play the fishing VR game.
