Suicide Squad released last week to mostly negative feedback and a lot of that negativity came from how poorly the film was edited. The film felt like there were scenes taken out that were possibly important to the story, the development of characters, and scenes that just helped the film flow right in terms of pacing. Fans and critics alike assumed that we would get some sort of R-rated director's cut or extended edition ala Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice's Ultimate Edition that released last month.
However, it would appear this is not the case at all! In an interview with Empire Magazine, director David Ayer stated that there would be no R-rated extended edition. "You could easily make this R-rated by having two F-bombs or someone smoke a cigarette. But that’s not what I think people mean when they ask for an R-rated version, so it was always meant to be a PG-13. It’s a decision you make before you turn the cameras on." Ayer stated. It's safe to say that any deleted scene for the film won't be featured in any sort of extended cut, and will instead be placed in some sort of deleted scenes special feature.
Suicide Squad is out now and we have several editorials on the film ranging between an easter eggs article and the current state of DC's films.
