SoulCalibur 5 sold less than its main predecessor

SoulCalibur 5 sold 1.38 million copies as of June 30, according to publisher Namco Bandai's first quarter report. That's roughly one million less than SoulCalibur 4.

SoulCalibur 4 achieved 2.3 million sales after eight months on sale. The figure for SoulCalibur 5 tallies sales for the first six months, but the bulk of sales was calculated directly after the games launched.

Namco Bandai also highlighted Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Generations, which broke the 3 million mark since its release in March.

The company earned about 108 billion yen ($176.3 million) during Q1, a total that accounts for its toy and arcade divisions. Profit overall increased by 31 percent, or 45 billion yen, or about $574.9 million.
