Did you know that people who like listening to video game music are more likely to succeed in life? It's true. I don't have a source; just trust me on this one.
I'm a huge fan of video game music myself, but I also like stuff that's inspired by the sounds of the old school generations. I'm talking 8-bit and 16-bit chiptunes. Of course, we always hear music that has that distinct SNES sound to it, but the Sega Genesis was pretty awesome, too, what with its rougher sound and all.
Last year, Ubiktune, a net label behind several projects including a recent Earthbound tribute album, released SOUNDSHOCK: FM FUNK MADNESS!!, a collection of 18 Genesis-inspired tracks. I just started listening to the album right now (fashionably late), and so far, I really dig what I'm hearing.
That's why I'm really excited to learn and share with you fine gamers that Ubiktune has just released SOUNDSHOCK 2: FM FUNK TERRROR!! Oh, hell yes. Before the album launched, it premiered on Arecibo Radio, an internet radio station rife with kick-ass chiptunes, other video game-inspired music, and some sweet mixes.
Sadly, we missed the live launch. Oh, poop. Well, at least we get to download the full album for free.
