At the beginning of the month, we saw pre-orders for South Park: The Fractured But Whole being refunded on the PlayStation Network and it appears as though it’s happening again. Both PlayStation and Xbox users are reporting that their South Park: The Fractured But Whole pre-orders are being refunded.
If you are a PlayStation owner who pre-ordered the game and you find unexpected cash in your PSN wallet, your pre-order has been canceled Additionally, PlayStation has sent a notification of the cancellation via email. Xbox has followed the same steps for notifying pre-orderers.
The Xbox Live email for the canceled pre-order reads as:
Hi there,
Thank you for shopping with us. Unfortunately, something unexpected went wrong on our end. We couldn’t process these items in your order, and we’ve had to cancel them.
We truly apologize for the disruption. Please revisit the store and place an order again to receive your items.
Back in February, Ubisoft delayed the game for a second time in its development cycle. The game is now sitting at an unknown release date, only a vague window of Ubisoft’s Fiscal Year for 2018 (April 1st, 2017 – March 31st, 2018).
Pre-orders cancellations are standard practice when release dates change or when new editions are added. No announcement of a new release date has been made by Ubisoft and we very well could be seeing a new release date announced this summer, during E3 2017.
Amended to include further details.
