After a year of Epic Games Store exclusivity, Rebel Galaxy Outlaw is finally coming to consoles. Later this month, on September 22nd, the open-world action-adventure game set in space will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Steam.
Originally launched in August 2019 on PC, Rebel Galaxy Outlaw became a sleeper hit for fans of space action and exploration. Unlike other entries in the genre that favor slow-paced action and realism like Elite: Dangerous or Star Citizen, Outlaw offers a much more action-oriented experience that resonated well with the PC audience.
Well, at least for those who got it on the Epic Games Store. Rebel Galaxy Outlaw is an EGS exclusive and together with the consoles, Steam users will also get the game on September 22nd.
Engage in white-knuckle combat, and use the included Autopursuit function to effortlessly fly like an ace, instead of space-jousting for hours. Save up your credits, buy a new ship, kit it out, and then paint it in a fully-fledged 3d-painting application. Make a fortune exploiting lucrative trade routes. Join guilds, help or hunt those in distress, buy and outfit your own space station. Grab a tip in a local bar and hunt hidden treasure. In your down-time, shoot some 8-ball, play some dice-poker, or aim for the high-score in an arcade game in the local seedy watering hole. Flip through the 7 included radio stations and vast music library for just the right track to fit your current mood.
The small indie studio at Double Damage Games would have liked to launch the game on consoles last year, but it proved simply too much work for the tiny 5-man team. The past year has thus been needed to port the game on three different consoles.
Rebel Galaxy Outlaw is a Western-themed space action-adventure that features a massive space sector for you to explore and grow your own space company in. While following the story campaign, you’ll engage in heated dogfights with an assortment of spaceships you can buy and upgrade.
