The special North American pre-order edition of Dead Island, the upcoming zombie-killing RPG, has been revealed by Deep Silver. The Dead Island Special Edition is available for pre-order exclusively at GameStop. The pre-order Special Edition includes the game, the upcoming Bloodbath Arena DLC, an exclusive piece of cover art, and a blueprint for a weapon called “The Ripper.” The Ripper is a destructive combination of a baseball bat and a buzz saw. Only players who pre-order this Special Edition will be able to craft the weapon and share it with friends.
The Bloodbath Arena DLC is a $10 value, featuring single and multiplayer challenges in four different arenas. You fight for your survival against wave after wave of deadly zombie attacks, each more gruesome than the next. Characters can also gain additional experience points and items and bring them over to their single or multiplayer campaigns. Players can also show off their skills in zombie fighting via the Bloodbath Arena’s Leaderboards. This mode includes a new exclusive weapon–the brain wave bomb–that is sure to give some highly explosive combat experiences. The Bloodbath Arena DLC package will be available for download shortly after launch.
This Special Edition includes some nice goodies. With the $10 DLC, it pretty much pays for itself. The Dead Island Special Edition is now available as an automatic upgrade for early pre-order customers at GameStop stores nationwide for a limited time (while supplies last).
