Spelunky coming to PS4 on Tuesday

In case you missed the announcement for October's PlayStation Plus games, Spelunky is coming to PS4 on Tuesday, October 7. And as was announced earlier, it'll be free for those of you who are PlayStation Plus members. For those who aren't, the game is a Cross-Buy title, meaning if you buy it on PS4, you'll also get it on PS3 and Vita.

For those unfamiliar, Spelunky is a unique platformer with randomized levels that offer "a challenging new experience" every time you play. The game is playable solo or with up to three friends in either cooperative play or frantic deathmatch.

Most of the textures have been updated on the PS4 and it runs in crisp 1080p. Also, you are able to upload replays of your high scores to leaderboards. There's also a new feature fo the Daily Challenge: friend ghosts, which appear where they died, offering some creepy clues about the dangers that are lurking near. BlitWorks, who handled the port, also added a number of smaller features that take advantage of the PS4's DualShock 4, like making the light bar color represent your player , and allowing players to use the touch pad to flip pages in the journal.
