Spider-man: Homecoming, Guardians of the Galaxy 2 prequel comics announced

Bit of backstory maybe?

Crossover and prelude comics have been the rage lately, especially when it comes to upcoming movies. Power Rangers and Justice League crossover begins in January before both films release later in 2017, and just this past year Batman and TMNT issued a crossover as well. Marvel has announced that it will continue early next year as both Spider-man Homecoming and Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2 will receive prequel comics prior to their release in theaters.

The synopsis is pretty generic according to the newly released Amazon listing, and only states as follows:

You adored his introduction in Marvel's Captain America: Civil War, you can't wait for his Hollywood Homecoming – now really get to know the Spider-Man of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in this prelude to his big-screen solo adventure! By day, young Peter Parker attends high school and lives with his Aunt May. By night, he fights crime with wall-crawling powers and web-swinging tech – and he's destined to one day have an amazing, spectacular, sensational reputation as his neighborhood's friendly hero! Join Marvel's Spider-Man as he makes his first tentative web-swings towards a blockbuster future

The Guardians of the Galaxy prequel comic also has a pretty generic synopsis, but will include a bonus chapter on Mantis, the newest character added to the Guardians franchise. According to the listing "Plus: Enjoy a classic pivotal chapter in the life of the enigmatic Mantis -the Marvel Cinematic Universe's next superstar-in-waiting! And more!"

Both comics are available to preorder now, and will release two and a half weeks before their respective films. Spider-man Homecoming comic will release on June 20th, 2017 (film date July 7th) and Guardians of the Galaxy comic has a release date of April 18th, 2017 (film date May 5th). No word is mentioned on what content will be handled in the comics, but maybe we'll get to see some backstory or images of villains that won't necessarily be in the trailers.
