Courtesy of Game Informer’s new cover story, we have new details on Spider-Man: Miles Morales. The PS5 launch title is just a month away and we’re just now learning what exactly the story will entail.
Spider-Man: Miles Morales will pick up one year after the first game with a 17-year-old Miles. Miles is still inexperienced and isn’t as graceful as Peter Parker, which is seen in his swinging and movement.
Spider-Man: Miles Morales starts with Peter and Miles fighting Rhino at Christmas time. The characters slam through buildings, parks, and even a mall where J. Jonah Jameson is acting as Santa Claus. Game Informer notes that there will be far more bigger and crazier setpieces than the first game. Insomniac has learned from the first game and applied it to ensure this isn’t some lower-tier spin-off.
The game will feature other villains like The Tinkerer and more, though not as many as in the first Spider-Man game. Similarly, Miles will also get various suits and and upgrades as he progresses. As Peter mentors him, he’ll progress from homemade suits to more advanced ones.
Finally, Spider-Man: Miles Morales will feature the same map. You’ll be spending your time in Harlem, where Miles lives. Harlem is the same size but there are new details to give it life and density. Miles will also not be using the police scanners from the first game to find crime in the city. His friend, Genke, has created an app that tunes him into what’s going on in Harlem, you can activate it at anytime using the touchpad.
More details will be coming throughout the month thanks to Game Informer’s coverage. You can check out their new issue starting today.
Spider-Man: Miles Morales releases on November 12th for PS4 and PS5. A remaster of the original will also be apart of the game’s Ultimate Edition. You can also pick up a prequel book starring Miles and The Vulture this November.
