Sony kicked off their PS5 event by announcing a remaster of Grand Theft Auto V but quickly followed it up with a brand new exclusive: Spider-Man: Miles Morales. The game will put Peter Parker to the side and let Miles Morales take the spotlight for this entry.
It seems to be a spin-off while we wait for the full-blown sequel but that has yet to be confirmed. The game will take place in winter but the rest of the plot is unknown. Miles was introduced in 2018’s Spider-Man game as a side character who had some playable stealth sections but he wasn’t Peter Parker’s successor quite yet.
The end of the game and the DLCs hinted at a much larger role for him as Peter Parker began to train him. Traditionally, Miles Morales rises up after Peter Parker’s death in the comics. However, it seems that they’ll work hand in hand together going forward.
Spider-Man: Miles Morales is scheduled for release this holiday season, likely a launch title on PlayStation 5. Marvel’s Spider-Man is out now on PS4.
