Spider-Man reboot swinging into IMAX

Sony and Marvel's upcoming Spider-Man reboot will swing into IMAX theaters algonside its worldwide theatrical debut on July 7, 2017. It will also be digitally re-mastered for IMAX 3D format.

“There’s so much about Spider-Man – including the web-slinging action – that lends itself perfectly to the IMAX screen," commented Josh Greenstein, president of Worldwide Marketing and Distribution for Sony Pictures. "We are confident that audiences everywhere around the world will want to see it in IMAX.”

Previously, Kevin Feige, Marvel Studios President, said the Spider-Man reboot won't be an origin story.

“It will not be an origin story. But, with great power comes great responsibility. It is inherent to who his character is. But we want to reveal it in different ways and spend much more time focusing on this young high school kid in the MCU dealing with his powers," Feige said previously.

“There is a young kid [already] running around New York City in a homemade version of the Spider-Man costume in the MCU, you just don’t know it yet.“

The Spider-Man reboot is being directed by Jon Watts and produced by Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal. Tom Holland will play the role of Peter Parter/Spider-Man, making his debut as the beloved web-slinger in Marvel's upcoming Captain America: Civil War on May 6, 2016.
