Tom Holand reveals Spider-Man sequel is titled Spider-Man: Far From Home

After two Spider-Man film franchises and one failed reboot, Marvel swooped in to get creative control of the character back from Sony for the films. With this, the character was rebooted and introduced in the sprawling MCU to give us a fresh new take on the character on the silver screen.

With his first solo outing in the MCU in Spider-Man: Homecoming, we saw a somewhat new take on the character that was still rooted in classic Spider-Man. An awkward lonely nerd trying to find a place in the social aspects of life while juggling the responsibilities of being a superhero. The twist was that he was mentored by Iron Man who makes a custom suit for Spidey with all sorts of gadgets. While some didn’t welcome this adjustment to the character, it was still well received by the majority of critics and audiences.

After popping back up in the mega-popular superhero ensemble, Avengers: Infinity War, it’s left us all wondering what the hell the already announced Spider-Man sequel could be about because spoilers… Spider-Man isn’t exactly in a good place when we last saw him.

With that said, Tom Holland took to Instagram this evening to announce he finally has the script for Spider-Man 2 and he accidentally “leaks” the title. By leak, we mean this was a carefully coordinated PR stunt by Marvel similar to when he “leaked” a poster for Avengers: Infinity War.

The title is Spider-Man: Far From Home, confirming that the web-head will leave New York City (something hinted at by Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige) and spend some time in other locations such as London where the film will be shot this summer.

Credible rumors have also stated that actor Jake Gyllenhaal will join the superhero universe as villain Mysterio, a Spidey baddie that specializes in illusions, magic, and special effects. Nothing has been officially announced but it’s only a matter of time before Marvel makes an official statement.

Spider-Man: Far From Home will release on July 5th, 2019, two months after Avengers 4 releases.
