Just in time for the NBA Finals tip off tonight, 2K Sports is making it rain NBA 2K16 news.
Announced today, MVP Stephen Curry (Golden State Warriors), MVP runner-up James Harden (Houston Rockets), and up-and-coming superstar Anthony Davis (New Orleans Pelicans) will all be featured on the cover of NBA 2K16. There are various cover shots floating around, one with all three in the spotlight and three others simply showcasing each individual star alone.
Furthermore, 2K shared the first details on the game's MyCareer mode. Academy-Award winning director and screenwriter (and widely-known New York Knicks basketball fanatic) Spike Lee has written and directed NBA 2K16's MyCareer Mode, which will take a much heavier story approach than we're used to seeing in the basketball franchise.
According to USA Today, NBA 2K16 "aims to add realism" to MyCareer which will introduce gamers to the social and business challenges that professional sports players face. "We follow a kid through the trials and tribulations of being a top high school player and the decisions he has to make," Lee told the publication, adding that ninety minutes of "cinematic narrative" were captured during a twelve-day motion capture shoot with 2K Games. That translates to approximately 12 hours of in-game story content, according to 2K spokesperson Ryan Peters.
"We just told Spike, 'You transform the narrative, and we'll change that into digital polygons.' And he did that, bringing a protagonist and antagonist to the story," Peters said.
